The famous Siddhapeeth Mata Maa Bhagwati Mathiyana Devi is a Hindu temple of literature of India, located in Bhadar Patti in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand state.
It is commonly known as Mathiyana Khal, which is situated amidst lush green mountains and forests all around. There is only a 2 km walk by road to reach Mathiyana Devi Temple.

The stepmother of the prince got the prince murdered by deceit. Maa Mathiyana was deeply saddened by the death of her husband. When the pyre was burning for her husband in Tilwara, Maa Mathiyana threw herself into her husband's pyre.
From where Maa Mathiyana Devi was created. After this Maa Mathiyana Devi killed her husband's killers. After that Mother Mathiyana Devi started residing here.
Since then, thousands of devotees have come every year for the darshan of Maa Mathiyana Devi, and there is a gathering of devotees especially during Navratras.

It is also said that when Maa Mathiyana Devi threw herself in the pyre, Lord Shiva was wandering in the sky carrying her body. During that time a part of the body of Maa Mathiyana Devi fell at that place.
Since then that place is considered to be the revered place of Mother Mathiyana Devi. After which Mother Mathiyana Devi started residing in Mathiyana Khal of Silgaon village.
