About Rudraprayag district

Rudraprayag is a small district in the state of Uttarakhand, India. The name Rudraprayag confirms the name of Lord Shiva and being settled in Devbhoomi, this name proves to be absolutely correct.

The confluence of the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers is also in the Rudraprayag district.  These rivers later join with the Bhagirathi River at Devprayag to form the Ganges River.

According to historians, years ago, Shri Narada Muni had worshiped for Lord Shiva, after being pleased, Lord Shiva took a fierce form to bless Narada Muni.

Rudraprayag district was earlier associated with Tehri Garhwal, but in 2002, Rudraprayag district was separated from Tehri Garhwal. Talking about religious places, Shiva temple and Maa Jagadamba temple attract the most.

According to a fact, it is believed that Maharishi Narada Muni worshiped Lord Shiva by standing on one foot. Pleased, Lord Shiva took the form of Rudra and gave his darshan to Narada Muni.

As a reward, Lord Shiva gave the Veena to Narada Muni. From that day onwards this place is known as Rudraprayag.
